The Role of Futurism in Design Research with Christopher Ireland

  • 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Zoom Webinar

Join us as we learn from Christopher Ireland, Instructor - Continuing Studies Program at Stanford University about the importance of integrating trend tracking and futures study in research programs.

Most companies have integrated big data analyses into their design or UX research programs and have realized the importance of user empathy, but only a few understand the similarly important integration of trend tracking or futures study.

Trend tracking is a form of aggregated data revealing changes in the behavior or beliefs of the population. When it includes qualitative input we not only see who and what is changing but also understand why it’s happening.

This talk will explore three types of trends and how they typically emerge, when and how to include trend or futures research in your plan, and which trends initiated by the Covid pandemic appear are worth watching.
